Amy Bateman – Active-Physio
Welcome to Active-Physio – a physiotherapy practice based in Kendal, Cumbria and serving the southern Lake District, Morecambe Bay and the Western Dales.
Active-Physio is run by Amy Bateman who is a Chartered Physiotherapist and Registered with the Health Professions Council.
Amy trained at the University of Northumbria at Newcastle graduating in 1999 with a BSc Honours degree. Since then she lived and worked in London for almost 5 years, gaining a diverse range of experience before moving to Cumbria in 2003. In 2005 Active-Physio was established as a mobile physiotherapy service.
The aims of physiotherapy are to:
- help alleviate pain
- restore normal movement
- facilitate functional independence
- help return the body to its natural balanced state without chemical intervention.
Physiotherapists will not only treat the problem. By spending time with the patient the therapist will often be able to show the patient how to help prevent the problem recurring.
Active-Physio use a number of different treatment approaches. These may include:
- manipulation and mobilization
- massage
- hydrotherapy
- specific exercise and rehabilitation programmes
- electrotherapy (e.g. ultrasound) acupuncture for pain relief.
Active-Physio provides physiotherapy for a wide range of clients including sportsmen and women engaged in a variety of sports and activities. In addition, Active-Physio also provides sports massage and physiotherapy at several events across the UK, for example: ACE Races, Saunders Lakeland Mountain Marathon, Brathay Windermere Marathon, Polaris Challenge etc. – please see our website for more information - www.active-physio.co.uk.
