This tour of the Eastern Scottish Highlands provides the opportunity to run through the heart of the Cairngorms, one of Britain's last true wilderness areas. The tour follows a route from Braemar in the east to Kingussie in the west. The first half follows the glens right through the centre of the Cairngorm National Park, the second half makes its way through the ancient and atmospheric Caledonian forests that protect the western fringes of the main mountain plateau.

This unique tour includes a 34km (20 ml) second day as it follows excellent trails and footpaths through the deep Glen Derry and Strath Nethy valleys to arrive at Glenmore Forest. The dramatic scenery of high mountains and cliffs on all sides makes this an unforgettable day of running. It is surprising that despite the distance through such rugged surroundings less than 550m of ascent are necessary to complete this stage of the tour.

The second half of the tour travels through the stunning Glenmore and Rothiemurchus Forests and valleys leading out to the River Spey. These ancient woodlands are abundant with wildlife and some of the oldest trees in the Highlands.

The tour enjoys the comfort of hostel accommodation throughout, with a hot shower, comfortable bed and welcome meal at the end of each day.
