The Cumbria Way offers an ideal introduction to multi-day trail running. This south to north traverse of the Lake District provides an opportunity to run through the valleys and woodland of the most picturesque corner of England. The views of lakes, tarns and high fells constantly change as you run from Ulverston, a market town on the coast, to the historic border city of Carlisle.
This iconic route follows trails and single track footpaths throughout and has plenty of character as it passes by historic farms and villages, and through ancient woodland of mixed deciduous trees. Running the Cumbria Way in the autumn offers a particularly spectacular holiday with the changing colours as a backdrop.
